Our staff and how we lead
At Georges River there is a large team of people at work behind the scenes. Men, and women, younger and older, some paid some voluntary – all equally have opportunity to develop a place of significant leadership in the life of this community.
Our goal is to help people discover their abilities and passion and help release them into that. We find that when people serve in an area they are passionate about, great things happen.
The church community has a governing group of pastors and a cross section of members of the church. This group, the Core Leadership Team, is empowered by the church to set vision and make all decisions according to that vision.
Senior Leader – Rev Scott Morrison and Jodie Morrison
Scott has been the team leader at Georges River for the past 10 years with many more to come. Scott’s primary gifting and role is in the the area of visionary leadership, preaching, leading his team and inspiring the wider church toward living a Jesus shaped life. Married to Jodie, they have three young children, Sophie, Charlotte and Curtis. Email Scott

Executive Pastor – Rodney WolfRod has been around as long as he has been alive. Rod is the administrative backbone of the church, he is a gifted administrator and teacher, and coordinates our Lifegroups. Rod is married to Lois and they have three older children, Josh, Joel and Emma. |

Georges River Life Care Pastor – Glenn PowerGlenn Power is a passionate believer that the good news of Jesus is most meaningful when it is actively worked out in practical ways. As the manager of Georges River Life Care, Glenn’s focus is on inspiring and mobilising people to serve others. He works with those who lead our various community services and coordinates both promotion and fundraising. Glenn is married to Robyn and they have two daughters, Sarah and Ellen. |

Youth and Connections Pastor – Craig ShannonCraig has two main focuses in ministry – leadership of our youth congregation and enabling people to integrate into the church community in healthy purposeful ways. Half of Craig’s time is in coordinating youth ministry and heading up a team of around 25 dedicated youth leaders on Friday evenings. The remainder of his time is in pastorally caring for new people and assisting them to find Lifegroups, ministries and generally connect well into the church life. Children’s Ministry Pastor – Lara WatsonFor over 10 years, Lara has played an instrumental role in growing a large thriving children’s ministry at Georges River. Her role is to lead a large team of Riverkids leaders on Sunday as well as pastorally care for mums, families and playgroups. Lara is married to Mark and they have two sons Koby and Nate. Lara is presently on maternity leave. |

Assistant Pastor (Children) – Sophie WheelerSophie Wheeler is one of the many outstanding leaders of the Riverkids ministry at Georges River. Sophie, who is in her final years of university, leads the River Kids team and co-ordinates the overall Sunday component of the ministry. |

Playgroups Coordinator – Katharine MontoyaKatharine’s passion is to see parents, carers and children from the wider community connect into our playgroup family where they can be encouraged and nurtured. Katharine focuses on coordinating volunteers and general administration of the ministry. Katharine is married to Octavio and they have three children Josiah, Jayden and Allegra. |

Administrative Assistant – Bronwyn ThorntonBronwyn works with Rod and Glenn to support the ever growing administrative requirements of the church and Life Care. Bronwyn also facilitates many of our parenting programs. Bronwyn is married to David and they have two children Cameron and Ebony. |

Technology and Innovation – Kevin FitzgeraldKev is the man who makes our technology tick, from pc’s to podcasts to projectors. Beyond support, Kev is actively developing ways in which we can take the technical expertise within the church and share it widely with other church communities lacking such resources. Kev is married to Bronwyn and they have a daughter Caitlin. |

Assistant Pastor (Youth)- Ben RusinBen has been part of the Georges River family since 2009, and commenced on staff in 2012. He is studying history and politics at university. Ben’s main responsibilities include the coordination of our Friday night youth program known as ‘Sold Out Youth’, and in the development of youth outreach initiatives. |
